Yes, I'm blogging again, but in my own space this time. Come visit!
Hello, hey!
I may be starting up a new blog home, due to some crap that was pulled here at blogger over the weekend. I think I want out. I'll keep you posted, of course.
Trifle (my dog-hating dog) made a new friend over the weekend. The inimitable Mr. Morley came over and charmed the pants off her (and me!). She was a little nervous at first, growling a bit and showing some teeth, but by the end of the visit she wasn't too concerned about him at all. And she had no reason to be; Morley was the most incredible little gentleman I've ever met.
We went to the Annual Swan Release in Stratford on Sunday, it was really pretty interesting. There were twenty or so swans (and some other waterfowl) that were released from their winter quarters and marched down to the Avon River.
As this swan was running, you could hear his feet go 'fwap fwap fwap' on the surface of the water. I wished I would have had my other digital camera handy to take a video.
More pictures are here.
So tired today. After an incredibly busy day yesterday, we went out around midnight last night to the outskirts of town for a fire. An abandoned barn went up, and was quite the site to watch. I stayed long enough to watch it finally collapse, and then headed back home, where *I* collapsed. Up early today, busy all day again, and I'm just about to start working tonight. Have a little bit to get caught up on before going in tomorrow.
Anyone do anything interesting this weekend??
I hung out on the front deck last night for a while, enjoying the brisk air, and watching cars roll right through the stop sign on my corner.
What a glorious day.
I let the dog out at 7:30 this morning, and it was so beautiful out, I knew right then I'd be spending the day outdoors. I'd rather have gone for a hike or something, but instead I did yard work all day. We're going to be re-landscaping this spring, so I had to clean up all the crap left by the old owners (think piles of leaves that are shoulder high on my dog, and sprinklers and shovels and other assorted crap that's been buried under the snow), and move all the rocks from the front garden. I raked for three damn hours, solid. Heavy, wet leaves. My shoulders are killing me, but I feel great. It was so good to be out in the cold, fresh air, working in OUR yard. I so love being a homeowner.
Now, I'm doing my usual round of Sunday night chores, getting laundry done and packing lunches and whatnot, and then it will be time for Grey's Anatomy.
Hope y'all had a good weekend, too.
I broke our dishwasher last night.
I knew we were Tim Horton junkies, we Canadians, but I hadn't realized just how addicted we were.
Here are some stats about my favourite little coffee shop:
There is about one "Timmies'' for every 11,500 Canadians. That's more than double McDonald's ratio of one restaurant for every 21,700 Americans.
There are about as many Tim Hortons per Canadian as there are McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's combined per American, says Peter Oakes, a New York-based analyst with Piper Jaffray & Co.
Since it was bought by Wendy's International Inc. in 1995, Tim Hortons Canada has grown from 1,180 outlets to 2,597.
The coffee and food operator, whose IPO this week values the company at about $4 billion, has suggested it can expand by another 40 per cent, reaching one Tim Hortons for every 8,000 Canadians.
There are 288 Tim Hortons south of the border, up from 17 in 1995. The company hopes to have 500 by the end of 2008. Buffalo is the most successful U.S. market so far, according to the company, with 48 outlets at the end of 2005.
In 1996, it introduced bagels, and now sells four of every five fast-food bagels in Canada. It boasts of "turbo toasters'' which toast a bagel in less than 20 seconds.

This is across the street from my office. Quite often on my way into work, I pull into the lot beside this field and watch the sun come up for a few minutes. Makes a good start to the day.
Theo is quite enjoying the sun, and spent most of this glorious weekend in that same spot on the back of the couch.
