Fall is SO VERY HERE.
Halloween is tonight. We don't get any trick or treaters in the apartment, but next year, we'll have decorations, and witches and ghosts and spiders and spooky things and I'll be at the door all night, handing out goodies.
Not only can I barely wait to move, but I can hardly wait to celebrate all the holidays in our new house.

Yep, you read it right. We bought a house. As much as I've loved living in the apartment we're in, the construction and disruption has just become too much. We were going to wait a couple years before we bought, but we started looking just to see what the market was like, and when we found this house is was just too good to pass up. It's a big house, decent sized lot, fenced yard, lots of new improvements, and in a great area of town. My brother and his family live just a few blocks away, and we're still close to the stores we like, my work, the highway, etc. The interior of the house needs some love, but that's something we don't mind doing. We're going to knock out a couple walls in the basement, paint and put in new flooring, and upstairs we're going to paint almost every room. The yard needs a lot of work, as they had a big dog that dug holes in it and I think they've let the landscaping go over the past year. But the foundation is *solid*, the roof is new, and they've done some other upgrades that we would have ended up doing anyway. All in all, I think we got a great property, and a house we can retire in.
Oktoberfest was good this year. Relatively quiet, anyways. No big incidents, really. And the extra money was really useful this year, what with buying the house and all!
In other news, I'm sick. Sick sick sick. I started with a sore throat on Sunday, and took almost three days off work. That's damn near unheard of for me. I'm starting to feel halfway normal today, but still have that nagging cough, and I am *tired*.
Speaking of tired, it's time to drag the dog out of bed and get her outside.

I'm a newly-married, geeky last half of thirty-ish woman in Southern Ontario. We've just moved into our first house. I spend my time trying to unpack, holding down a full-time office job and trying to grow a home business. My husband and I have too many pets, numerous hobbies and volunteer commitments, and not enough hours in the day.
