Surgery

Well, I went to the specialist on Thursday, but haven't had a minute to post since.

The verdict is: surgery.

I will need to have two cysts removed from my jaw and the three molars they have attached themselves to. The rest of the cysts will need to be scraped off the jaw bone. He'll try his best to save the fourth tooth involved. It is scheduled for June 15.

The vacation to Saskatchewan that Mike surprised me with has been post-poned, and we're going with our original idea of a trip to Toronto. We'll stay here, shop here, visit friends, and do all kinds of tourist-y things that we never do when we visit the city.

Our vacation will be shorter than planned, because I now need the extra days off for my surgery and the recuperation time.

In other news:

The finches are getting bigger every day, and while I'm taking pictures often, it doesn't much matter because you can't see them anyway. They totally blend right in with their nest in the planter. I'll try to get a good shot at some point.

The kitten is getting bigger. She had her second round of shots, and has gained a pound in the past four weeks. She's absolutely made herself at home around here. She'll be staying with my brother and his family this weekend, and the dog will be staying with Mom. A friend of ours is coming in to feed, water, and love everyone else for the couple days that we are gone.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to a vacation. Truly.

(And our hotel as free high-speed internet. Woo! I just might do a picture blog while I'm away!)

Ouch

Remember last post how I was complaining about tooth pain? Well, I went to the dentist today so he could take an xray of the offending chunk of bone.

Not good news.

Apparently I have a cyst on my lower jaw. It's about the size of a grape, and is pressing into the bone.

I have an appointment with a specialist on Thursday.

I'm just hoping that this doesn't affect our planned vacation next weekend. We haven't actually bought the plane tickets, and we won't until we know what's going on with my jaw.

*sigh* I'll be sure to update when I know more.

In non-tooth related news, three finch babies were born last week, and I've been keeping an eye on them. They're not nearly as noisy as I thought they'd be.

The kitten is completely insane, and we love her to death. She's sitting on my lap right now, purring away. Pictures will be coming soon, I'm sure.

Hope you all are well.

Kitty Love.

The kitten. Oh, the kitten. It's been a few years since I've had a very small kitty in my house, and it's truly joyful. I've been having so much trouble with the dog this week, and Mike was gone all week to the states, so it's a very good thing that I had this new little fuzzball to balance out all the negative things.

Here she is. Oh, and did I tell you? We named her 'Casino'.

She is completely adorable. When she walks slowly, you can really notice her limp, but when she gets moving, she's actually quite fast and extremely agile. She's completely fearless. She is incredibly trusting, rolling over for tummy rubs every chance she gets. She lets me hold her while I vacuum. And on the weekend, I took her to the mall with us. She slept in the bottom of my purse for four hours.

Right now she is living in Mo's room. As much as I think she'd be ok hanging out with the big cats, Trifle would gladly make a meal of her, so we're keeping them separated for now.

I'm in luuuurve. :)

She had her first checkup at the vet this week, and it was a very good one. First set of shots, confirmation she is, indeed, a she, and a good look at the missing leg. The vet foresees no problem with the missing limb. *whew*

I knew my other cats were not small, by most standards, but when I come back to the general population around here after playing with the kitten in solitary, my other cats look positively GIGANTIC.

Speaking of other cats, I should go and feed and water them, and lavish them with some love, or I'm going to have some jealous felines to contend with.

In loving memory.

It's been busy. Too busy for me to post, but I couldn't let today go by without saying something.

"To live in the hearts of those you leave behind is never to die."

In loving memory of my stepfather, Ken Raymond, who left us two years ago.

We miss you, Ken. You are always in our hearts and thoughts.
