Reception

So I found a little program that just may make updating a little easier. Google has a little program called 'Blogger for Word'. It sticks a little toolbar in my Word program and *voila*, I can yammer out an entry, just like that.

Anyway. Life has been a complete zoo lately. My friends wedding is in just two weeks (and I'm her Maid of Honour) and then our reception is two weeks after that.

As far as our reception goes, the plans are coming along wonderfully. We met with a rep from the hall Monday night to discuss our menu. I like that we are having food all night long, instead of a sit-down meal. I didn't want people to be tied to their chairs for that long. And also, it's more fun for the kids if they can motor around.

The menu goes something like this:

First up will be a fruit tray, cheese and crackers, and a veggie tray (broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, cucumber, carrots, and celery).Next (somewhere around 8 pm) is a homemade pizza (mostly for the kids, but everyone can have it.) Then there will be hot hors d'oeuvres - sausage rolls, mini quiche, and meatballs; pinwheels (Turkey and pepper jack cheese, ham and swiss, with red pepper and olive); and pastry puffs (four different kinds - can't remember what!) These will be served regularly, some on the buffet table, and some will be passed around by servers. After 10, there will be sandwiches (of the tuna salad, egg salad, etc.) variety, and there will be two meat platters with buns, butter, mayo and mustard to make your own sandwiches. There will also be another cheese and cracker tray. Coffee, tea, wine, punch, juice, pop, and water are available all night long, as well as mixed drinks and beer.

I have yet to pick out an outfit for the reception, but that shouldn't be too hard. It's not a terribly formal affair, so a cute skirt and a nice top will do me just fine. And to hell with style, I'm wearing comfortable shoes!

In pet news, Casino was just at the vet on Tuesday, to be spayed and have an xray taken. We wanted to make sure all of her inside stuff was where it was supposed to be, especially on the side where she is missing her arm. She's doing well. Here she is in all her shaved-belly, post-operative glory!

My jaw is almost finally fully healed. No more pain, no more swelling, and I don't have to see the surgeon again until November. He'll take an xray then to make sure the bone is regenerating. I was a little ticked last month with how long it was taking to heal. I wasn't quite expecting that length of recovery. But oh, well. One *very* good upshot to all that is that I think the pressure of the cysts on the nerve like that were causing a lot of migraines. I was getting them so regularly, and since the surgery I've only had two or three. Let's hope that keeps up. *knock wood*

Now, it's time to go play with the new laptop my Mom bought. She bought an iBook! I think she'll love having the Mac, and I'm looking forward to teaching her a bit about it.

Hope y'all are well!
